Following a shoulder operation, such as a rotator cuff repair, a shoulder reconstruction, a SLAP repair or a shoulder replacement your surgeon will require a strict protocol be followed in terms of any movement allowed or resistance applied to those movements.

An operation should always be the last option for management. If you have not been assessed for a conservative management program, get in touch with us. We have seen a number of patients who have cancelled their proposed operation because they responded well to a strengthening program.

At Melbourne Shoulder Physiotherapy have a long history of dealing with post-operative conditions and are familiar with common protocols. We have an excellent working relationship with shoulder surgeons and will be in contact with them straight away if the need arises.

Having treated many patients following their shoulder surgery, we have a broad experience to identify whether the patient is progressing as expected. It is always a very nervous time for people following shoulder surgery. You need to have confidence that your treating physiotherapist is aware of the expected time-lines and stages for recovery.
