About Us

Dr. Phillip Hughes has a special expertise in treating shoulder conditions. 

He has published papers in international peer-reviewed journals on shoulder diagnosis and treatment and lectured on shoulder conditions, around the world. He sees people from around Victoria and from interstate for their shoulder pain. 

Phillip has presented his research and spoken on shoulder issues at National and International conferences.

He often consults to provide second opinions or for people who are failing to respond in other settings.

Phillip also works very closely with Melbourne’s best shoulder surgeons for a team approach to their patients’ issues.

In addition to assessing and treating disorders of the shoulder, Phillip has spent 12 years teaching  shoulder diagnosis and treatment at university, involving both undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students.

Phillip is one of Australia’s leading physiotherapists, and a professional leader. He is the the immediate past chair of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia, the largest special interest group of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
